The Institute for Freedom and Community welcomes the St. Olaf community to Managing Risk in the Cryosphere Commons: Disaster Governance and the Politics of Anticipation in the Nepal Himalaya by Dr. Austin Lord at the Stimson Center. Dr. Lord questions: Can we manage climate change disasters ahead of time? This talk discusses the politics around anticipatory action in the cryosphere commons of Nepal. Dr. Austin Lord will share findings from his research with local partners, national governments, the UN and the Himalayan Climate Data Field Lab.
