SGA EXECUTIVE TEAM POSITIONS
SGA PRESIDENT:
The SGA President serves as the Chief Executive Officer of SGA, responsible for the administration and coordination of the operations and policies of the SGA. They chair the SGA Executive Committee and advocate for, receive feedback from, and represent SGA and the student body on and off campus.
The SGA President meets regularly with the Director of Student Activities, Dean of Students Office representatives, and St. Olaf College President to discuss and advocate for student issues along with the SGA Vice President, among other duties. This is an elected position.
SGA VICE PRESIDENT:
The SGA Vice President serves as the Chair of the Student Senate, with the responsibility for the administration and coordination of the operations and policies of the Student Senate. The SGA Vice President advocates for, receive feedback from, and represent SGA and the student body on and off campus. Additionally, they meet regularly with the Director of Student Activities, Dean of Students Office representatives, and St. Olaf College President to discuss and advocate for student issues along with the SGA President, among other duties. This is an elected position.
SGA CHIEF OF STAFF:
The SGA Chief of Staff is tasked with promoting the effectiveness of SGA broadly and the supporting its portfolio of appointed student representatives across campus. In addition to supporting special projects in conjunction with the SGA President and SGA Vice President, the Chief of Staff is the primary notetaker for all Executive Committee and Student Senate meetings and charged with actively maintaining all SGA documentation. This is a hired position.
SECRETARY OF ACADEMIC AFFAIRS:
The Secretary of Academic Affairs is the Co-Chair of the Campus Affairs Board and Chair of the Academic Affairs Committee. The Secretary of Academic Affairs represents SGA and the student body St. Olaf College Faculty meetings and serves as a liaison between the Provost, Academic Deans, the Senate, and the student community, communicating student body concerns to relevant parties. Finally, the Secretary of Academic Affairs is responsible for appointing student representatives to the College faculty committees. This is an elected position.
SECRETARY OF DIVERSITY, EQUITY, & INCLUSION:
The Secretary of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion is the Chair of the Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Board, overseeing the funding of multicultural student organizations and the advancement of campus initiatives that uplift equity, access, and belonging. The Secretary of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion serves as a liaison between the student community, SGA, the Taylor Center for Equity & Inclusion, and the Vice President for Community and Belonging, communicating student body concerns to relevant parties.This is an elected position.
SECRETARY OF FINANCE:
The SGA Secretary of Finance develops, presents, and administers all budgets under the SGA, including oversight over all student organization budgets. Additionally, the Secretary of Finance oversees a team of Deputy Secretaries of Finance to support SGA financial allocations, student organization spending, and general financial protocols within the Office of Student Activities. This is a hired position.
SECRETARY OF GLOBAL IMPACT:
The Secretary of Global Impact is the Co-Chair of the Community Impact Board and Chair of the Global Impact Committee. The Secretary of Global Impact is tasked with liaising regularly with relevant student organizations, campus offices, and individuals to stay abreast of and provide dialogue opportunities surrounding global issues impacting St. Olaf students. This is an elected position.
SECRETARY OF INVOLVEMENT:
The Secretary of Involvement is the Chair of the Involvement Board, overseeing the recognition and review of all student organizations, as well as the funding of the majority of student organizations. Additionally, the Secretary of Involvement represents student organization interests and needs to the Office of Student Activities and other relevant offices. This is an elected position.
SECRETARY OF LOCAL IMPACT:
The Secretary of Local Impact is the Co-Chair of the Community Impact Board and Chair of the Local Impact Committee. The Secretary of Local Impact serves as a liaison between the student community, SGA, and Northfield community leaders, communicating student body concerns to relevant parties. Additionally, the Secretary of Local Impact is the official SGA representative for local, state, and national election efforts. This is an elected position.
SECRETARY OF MARKETING & COMMUNICATION:
The Secretary of Marketing and Communications is responsible for all SGA print and digital marketing avenues, including social media, and is charged with working closely with SGA leadership to ensure efficient and effective publicity. Additionally, the Secretary of Marketing and Communications works closely with a Deputy Secretary of Marketing and Communications to develop and implement SGA’s marketing strategy. This is a hired position.
SECRETARY OF STUDENT AFFAIRS:
The Secretary of Student Affairs is the Co-Chair of the Campus Affairs Board and Chair of the Student Affairs Committee. The Secretary of Student Affairs represents SGA and the student body as the Student Observer to the St. Olaf College Board of Regents and serves as a liaison between the student community, SGA, the President’s Leadership Team, and the Board of Regents, communicating student concerns to relevant parties. This is an elected position.
